Climatic implications of seasonal δ~(13)C in tree rings from Huangling of Shaanxi Province

摘要

The study on stable isotopic compositions of tree rings is playing an important role in reconstructing past climatic variations on the annual scale. Recently, a higher resolution study on seasonal variation in stable isotopic compositions of tree rings is developing. Some significant results on this aspect have been obtained, and all of them seem to respond to the moisture stress of growing season. Also, the seasonal δ~(13)C patterns in tree rings are highly uniform among individuals of the same species at a site, among individuals of the same species from nearby sites with different microenvironments, and among individuals of different species from nearby sites. China is a typical monsoom country. The Asian summer monsoon activities in China, which are often accompanied by wet events, begin at the southeast coast of China every year, and move towards the northwest inland. Generally, the Asian summer monsoon front can reach the northeasternmost inland, such as Huangling of Shaanxi Province, in August of the normal years.
