Reaction of a preformed cluster [Et_4N]_4[Mo_2O_2S_6Cu_6I_6] with bis(3,5-dimethylpyra-zolyl)methane (dmpzm) in acetonitrile afforded the title compound [MoOS_3Cu_3I(dmpzm)_2] centre dot 2(MeCN)_(0.5) 1.The single-crystal X-ray diffraction study shows that 1 (C_(24)H_(3.5)Cu_3IMoN_9OS_3,M_r = 975.25) crystallizes in triclinic,space group P1 with a = 11.442(2),b = 11.644(2),c = 16.211 (3) A,alpha = 99.26(3),beta = 1 02.22(3),gamma = 1 1 8.5 1 (3) deg,V = 1 766.5( 1 0) A~3,Z = 2,Dc = 1 .834 g/cm~3,T = 193(2) K,F(000) = 960,mu = 32.12 cm~(-1),lambda = 0.71073 A,R = 0.0355 and wR = 0.0915 for 5686 observed reflections with I > 2sigma(I).In the molecular structure of 1,the [MoOS_3]~(2-) anion acts as a tridentate ligand to bind one CuI group and two [Cu(dmpzm)]~+ units to form a nido-like [MoOS_3Cu_3] core with an approximate C_(2v) symmetry.The Mo...Cu contacts are in the range of 2.6460(12)~2.6798(11) A.
