Developmental Morphology of Root System of Asarum heterotropoides F. Schmidt var. mandshuricum (Maxim.) Kitag

Asarum heterotropoides var. mandshuricum is a perennial plant. The quickly growing period of its root system is vegetative period after fruiting (from July to August). The growth is slow in autumn and stops in winter, but the growing points do not dieand resprout in the following year. The roots are mainly primary in structure throughout the whole life. Primary xylems of main root and lateral roots of one year seedling are diarch, the adventitious roots of two to many year plants are diarch, triarchand tetrarch and there are also transition types in an adventitious roots. The structures of branches in adventitious roots are the same as main root and lateral roots.
