Industrial effluents to the atmosphere and hydrosphere are cleaned with theuse of various pollutant-removing devices. Until now, however, neither a systems approach, nor mathematical models for their description from single positions have been developed in safety theory. Deterministic and probabilistic approaches to the building of generalized models of protective devices are proposed. An example is cited for application of a probabilistic model to the cleaning process by the foam-flotation method.%@@1. I. V.
