EVALUATING A SPECIAL NO-GYPASS COMBINATION SASH FUME HOOD USING VARIANTS OF ANSI/ASHRAE 110-1995 AND BS 7258

Designers of laboratories and from hood manufacturers are seeking ways of reducing the exhaust air flow rate of fume hoods, largely for economic reasons. This article describes an 18-month evaluation of a fume hood with several special features ,including a special sash design ,extra depth ,a flush sill airfoil ,and no bypass. The fume hood showed good containment perfomance, stable face velocities ,substantial energy savings, and other benefits.
