Possibilities of bicomponent fiber and yarn spinning

Bicomponent technology has already existed for decades.The technology has proven to be successful only in the last ten years.This is mainly because the design of the extrusion equipment has changed and the design of the spin packs improved.Since then,extrusion companies have started to look for innovative materials using bicomponent extrusion technology.A lot of fibers and yarns have been described so far,with varying functions and a new range of polymers.This article aims to give an introduction to bicomponent technology and to the characterization of bicomponent materials.
