ACHEMA: A barometer of chemical technology

ACHEMA doesn't grow old, ACHEMA 97, just concluded, marked the 25th time that Germany's premier chemical event has taken place. But the triennial exhibition/congress, which had its beginnings in 1920, is more than ever a barometer of the trends in and surrounding chemical technology. ACHEMA is the German acronym of the event's official title, Austellungs-Tagung fuer Chemisches Apparatewesen. Through an exhibition and congress that fill the Frankfurt fairgrounds, its triennial appearance presents an unequaled tableau of chemical technology in its vast variety. The exhibition itself this year sprawled through 10 large buildings, providing acres of exhibits of the latest in equipment, products, and services of all kinds organized into 11 exhibition categories.
