We're spoiled, living in the Washington, D.C., area. We take for granted that the fabulous Smith-sonian museums cost nothing to visit or that we can wander through the stirring memorials on the national mall any time, day or night. Sometimes it takes the amazement of visitors from out of town to remind us of how privileged we are.
