An energy upconversion system based on triplet-triplet annihilation exploiting an organic triplet sensitizer is devised and has achieved a white-light emission with a low power laser excitation.rnSystems capable of generating short-wavelength radiation from long-wavelength light sources are very desirable because of their wide application potentials. Well-established approaches for performing such conversion include two-photon absorption (TPA)2 with organic materials and sequential energy transfer up-conversion (ETU) in rare-earth ion-doped glasses. Typical laser power densities needed are 1-10~3 W cm~(-2) for ETU and 10~6-10~9 W cm~(-2) for TPA. The requirement of either an intense and/or a coherent light source limits the application of these upconversion approaches.
