The trigonal bipyramidal molecules [M(tmphen)_2]_3[Mo(CN)_6]_2. (solvent) (M = Co, Ni; tmphen = 3,4,7,8-tetramethyl-1,10-phenanthroline) based on the [Mo~Ⅲ(CN)_6]~(3-) unit were prepared by loss of a cyanide ligand from [Mo~Ⅲ(CN)_7]~(4-) and found to exhibit ferromagnetic interactions between the M~Ⅱ and Mo~Ⅲ centers.
