A second-sphere complex [Co(DABP)_3][Fe(CN)_6] (1) (DABP = 5,5'-diamino-2,2'-bipyridine) is constructed from [Co(DABP)_3]~(3+) and IFe(CN)_6]~(3-) through charge-assisted N-H)_(NH_2)??? N_(CN) hydrogen bonds; hexagonal microrods of 1 are obtained via a facile self-assembly method in the presence of surfactant.
