Fast transport of HCI across a hydrophobic layer over macroscopic distances by using a Pt(Ⅱ) compound as the transporter

[Pt(H-(ethyl)_2-dithiooxamidate)_2] plays the role of a HCI symporter, allowing fast HCI transport over macroscopic distances (cm scale) across a hydrophobic layer made of a chloroform solution, without any stirring. The process is limited by interfacial transfer, whereas HCI is transported within the hydrophobic phase at extremely high rates.
