Basic dye-concentrated nanoparticles (similar to 33 nm in diameter) show fluorescence-based ratiometric pH response, by one- and two-photon excitations, with improved proton sensing ability (pK(a)similar to 6.4) through nanoscopic intraparticle energy transfer.
