In Germany, in particular, bagged cement has for a number of years now been sold only in "low chromate" form. EU Directive 2003/53/EC dated June 18,2003 now prescribes low chromate cement in general, for the future, except in cases in which subsequent processing and use stages take place in sealed, fully automatic, monitored processes with no danger of skin contact. Many - but not all - customers in the cement using industries possess such facilities.The cement producers are therefore faced with the challenge of finding suitable methods for the addition of chromate reducing agents to bulk product loading lines.
