Government panel recommends fund support for Mawmluh Cherra Cement, India

Mawmluh Cherra Cement Ltd (MCCL), Sohra (Cherrapunjee), Meghalaya has been running at a loss, as are most public sector undertakings (PSUs) in the hilly North Eastern Region of India. The reasons for losses incurred by these PSUs, as identified by the Comptroller & Auditor General (CAG) of Government of India in its recent study, could be mainly linked to deficiencies in financial management, planning, implemen tation of projects, operations and monitoring.
