Rotary kiln shells cooled by water evaporation

Rotary kilns in the cement industry are subject to high thermal loadings that can also be transmitted to the kiln shell. Fans have proved successful in the cement industry as a means of limiting the kiln shell temperature but a new procedure using selective water evaporation permits low-noise, energy-efficient cooling of the rotary kiln shell.
