The Russian cement industry in 2016

In 2016 the Russian cement industry continued to be affected by the economic crisis. The drop in demand for building materials has naturally had its effect on both the quantity of output and the consumption of cement. According to government surveys the cement production in Russia in 2016 amounted to 55.0 million t, corresponding to 88.7 % of the production in 2015 ( Table 1). The reduction in the volume of cement production was caused by the collapse of the Russian market due to the general economic recession in the country.
