So far the SVA flat prism method has been used for testing the sulfate resistance of cements. However, the high sulfate concentrations used for this purpose can also lead to high expansions with SR cements (common cements with high sulfate resistance).The method is now therefore being considered critically. Modifications of the test method were investigated in a research project at VDZ in order to avoid these spurious results.
