The 2019 Cement Chemistry Symposium of the German Cement Works Association (VDZ)

This year's "Cement Chemistry" symposium of the German Cement Works Association (VDZ) was held on 28th March 2019 at the Research Institute of the Cement Industry in Düsseldorf with about 130 participants from the German cement industry. Organized once a year by the VDZ's Cement Chemistry committee, this year the symposium focused not only on the research work supervised by the committee but also in particular on current topics from cement production practice. There were reports and discussions on the Cement Chemistry committee, the level of knowledge of the production process, questions of quality assessment, the CO_2 problem in the context of environmental requirements for the cement industry, dangerous substances, the material potential of clinker-efficient cements and the methods of analysis for determining cement composition. Each of the contributions had been compiled by a team of four to five members of the Cement Chemistry committee and the lecture was then delivered by one member of the team. Brief outlines of the lectures are given below.
