Panstrongylus turpiali, n. sp. (Hemiptera: Reduviidae: Triatominae) from Venezuela

Panstrongylus turpiali n. sp, se describe a partir de una nembra capturada en un domicilio humano ubicado en un área de bosque estacional con fuerte uso antrópico, en el caserío Carrizal, Estado Mérida, Venezuela. La especie es morfológicamente similar a P. rufotuberculatus (Champion) y P. chinai (Del Ponte). Los principales caracteres que la distinguen de estas dos especies son: el proceso posterior del escutelo es tan largo como el cuerpo principal del escutelo, y el conspicuo proceso apicolateral del turbéculo antenífero con el ápice puntiagudo y dos fuertes cerdas.%Panstrongylus turpiali n. sp, is described from a female captured in a human dwelling, in an area of strongly anthropic seasonal forest in the Carrizal village, Merida State, Venezuela. The species is morphologically similar to P. rufotuberculatus (Champion) and P. chinai (Del Ponte). The main characters that distinguish it from these two species are: the posterior process of the scutellum is as long as main body of scutellum, and the conspicuous apicolateral process of the antenniferous tubercles with pointed apex and two strong bristles.
