US-based lessor AVIATION CAPITAL GROUP signed an agreement with AERONAUTICAL ENGINEERS Inc (AEI) for the conversion of two 737-400s from passenger to 11-pallet freighter configuration. Following conversion by COMMERCIAL JET (AEI's Authorized Conversion Center) at its Miami facility, the freighters will be leased to Brazil-based all-cargo operator VARIGLOG, a subsidiary of the Synergy Group. The first aircraft, which is now in modification, is a high gross weight 1991-build unit (25063, ex-Aegean Airlines). The AEI conversion, using a main-deck cargo loading system provided by ANCRA INTERNATIONAL, offers ten full height 88"xl25"x82" AAA container positions, plus a 53"x88"x64"high pallet in position 11.
