Boeing to bring 737-800BCF conversion line to GAMECO. Guangzhou Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Co., Ltd. (GAMECO) and Boeing announced plans to establish a third conversion site for the 737-800BCF at GAMECO’s Guangzhou Baiyun Airport (CAN) facility. The first aircraft is expected to be inducted for conversion in 2020. Garuda Indonesia to lease two 737-800BCFs from GECAS. GECAS announced that Garuda Indonesia will grow its freighter fleet with two dryleased 737-800BCFs from GECAS [FATs 005199-5200]. The freighters are slated to be phased into Garuda’s current fleet in mid-2020. Earlier in October, the carrier told a local media outlet that it hoped to grow its freighter fleet to eight units by the end of next year, with the addition of A330Fs for international routes and 737-800Fs for domestic and regional operations. Currently, Garuda Indonesia has an ACMI partnership with My Indo Airlines, which operates two 737-300Fs (23448 and 23598) and one 737-400F (24559) for Garuda. Looking at Garuda’s own fleet, Cargo Facts believes that six A330- 300s (138, 140, 144, 148, 153 and 165), all around 23 years of age and the airline’s oldest overall, could be suitable candidates for conversion into freighter configuration. Three 737-800s (29928, 29929 and 29931) that are 18-19 years old could also be potential candidates.
