Strainstall's container weighing system is currently being used at numerous UK ports including the Port of Felixstowe and Tilbury and is being considered for integration throughout ports and terminals in the U.S., Europe, Chile and Canada, according to a company statement. Strainstall said the system was developed in response to talks within the IMO calling for mandatory verification of container weights and has been developed to enable port authorities and shipping companies to gauge the exact weight of containers, as well as the ability to detect heavy loads.
