U.S. Supreme Court rules in favor of ATA in challenge of Port of Los Angeles Clean Truck Program

The U.S. Supreme Court in June ruled in favor of the American Trucking Associations, in the trucking federations challenge to the Port of Los Angeles Clean Truck Program, which imposed a comprehensive licensing program on trucks hauling freight in and out of the port. Justice Kagan delivered the opinion, which stated that there was precedent to support the opinion that federal law preempts certain provisions of the agreement that trucking companies were required to sign before they could transport cargo at the Port of Los Angeles.
