FORMATION IN SITU OF PERFLUOROALKYLATED FULLERENES

Mass spectrometric studies have shown that contact-arc vaporization of polytetrafluoroethyl-ene-containing graphite rods leads to the formation of mainly trifluoromethylated [60]-fullerenes of the general formula C_(60)(CF_3)_nH_m, where n = 1-8 and m = 0-9. Similar results were achieved by using sodium trifluoroacetate/graphite composite rods.
