A COMMON VW TRANSPORTER SNAG

We seem to see quite a few VW Transporters - most are vans - but a couple of the ones we look after are multi-seat vehicles like this 2003 diesel model that came in recently with an exhaust blow. The problem was one that seems to be quite common on this breed of vehicle. The exhaust bracket towards the front of the system, which is placed on a sharp bend, had corroded where it was welded onto the exhaust pipe. The exhaust on these vehicles is made from a good thickness of steel and, as the rest of the system was in good shape, it seemed a shame to replace the pipe for one small weakness.
