In the August issue of CM, I replaced a window glass drive clip on a Renault Modus for around a fiver after the dealer chain quoted £334 to fix the fault. Well, word got around and a friend-of-a-friend popped up with a failed driver's window to see if I could help. Just in case it was something other than the clip - such as a broken cable -Ⅰ started by popping off the door panel. Just as well, because lying in the door bottom was the shattered remains of a plastic slide from the regulator mechanism main frame, along with the tensioning roller that had fallen out once the wire cable had gone. A journey was made to the Basingstoke branch of Euro Car Parts, which had the complete regulator frame and mechanism in stock at just under £50.
