Queen Anne acquisition expands World's Finest push into retailing

The Queen is returning to Chicago — Queen Anne Cherry Cordials, that is. The chocolate-covered cherries' brand was originally established in Chicago in 1921, but since 1992 had been owned by Portland, Ore.-based Gray & Co, the world's largest processor of cherries and glace fruits. This past January, Chicago-based World's Finest Chocolate (WCF) acquired the Queen Anne brand as well as the robotic production line used to produce the cordials. The sale also includes a variety of premium fruit-and-chocolate combinations and panned glace fruit products Gray & Co. had developed in recent years.
