The boats were there, the exhibitors turned up, the public were out and about, and all under the striking backdrop of the huge cooling towers of the Ratcliffe on Soar power station. The only thing missing was... the mud! For the first time in three years The Inland Waterways Association's National Festival wasn't hit by dreadful weather during the setup, and memories of plodding around thernsite in Wellingtons were just that - memories. Not only that, but the rain held off for almost all of the weekend of the festival, there were no worries of flood conditions for the 240 visiting boats on the River Soar, and the visitors turned up for the show.
