Dudley canal trust has announced a bid to build a £3m two-storey education and visitor centre alongside the canal's approaches to Dudley Tunnel and its limestone mines - which already have more than 80,000 visitors a year arriving by trip-boat. The 'Learning and Access Hub' will include a museum featuring artifacts and records of the Black Country canals and the former limestone mines which fuelled much of the local iron industry.
