A threat to ban traditional-style back cabin stove installations has been lifted, as a result of a public consultation on the British Standards Institution's proposed Solid Fuel Stove Installation Standard.rnFollowing a fatal fire in 2007, the Boat Safety Scheme proposed an installation standard for solid fuel stoves. The draft standard produced by BSI covered such issues as clearance around appliances, chimney height, hearth size, and avoidance of locations close to stepped access.
