We are thinking about buying a narrowboat but wonder if there are any rules and regulations about names. Do you have to choose a unique name and register it like a racehorse, or is it acceptable to pick anything you like? Also, if you are buying second-hand, do you have to keep the name it comes with? And, if not, is there a formal procedure for changing it?
