A light at the end of the loch

The Bona Lighthouse, once Britain's only manned inland lighthouse, has a brighter future thanks to plans to convert it into a holiday home.rnOriginally built by Thomas Telford as a toll house, the building guards the entrance to the Caledonian Canal from Loch Ness. It might not look likerna conventional lighthouse, but its two-storey 'tower' was adapted to house a paraffin light which shone out along the 23-mile loch. It was converted to acetylene in 1934, then electricity in 1964, but more recently it was replaced by a beacon and buoys, the building became a private house, but for the past eight years has been left empty and decaying.
