How big an anchor?

We have a 57ft narrowboat on the Leeds & Liverpool and are planning a trip involving tidal rivers on the Ouse and Trent. What type of anchor, what weight and how much chain do we need? We have been advised to have the anchor at the stern ready for use when on the rivers, but I'm a little concerned of the overall weight and getting the whole thing over the side.
