Rower compensated for narrowboat crash

A rower whose boat was wrecked in a collision with a hire narrowboat on the Thames has won a court case entitling her to compensation from the boat's insurers. Reading University Rowing Club member Rachel Barnes, who had been hoping to compete in the Commonwealth Regatta, suffered neck and rib fractures when hireboat Snow Bunting owned by UK Boat Hire collided with her lightweight craft near Caversham Bridge, dragging the wreckage along on its bows.
