Battery boosting

Q I have a boat with 4×110amp batteries. If I change them to 4x125amp or 140, will I have to alter anything. Q tony replies... First, those numbers are Amp Hours (Ah) not Amps. Understanding this is important when doing power audits and such like. You will not have to change anything apart from any covers/securing arrangements if they are physically larger. As long as you take the same amount of electricity out of them as you did with the 110 Ah batteries the recharge time will be similar. You will be able to go a little longer between charging and still stay within the 50% maximum discharge 'rule'. However, if you do that the recharging will take longer because you have taken more electricity out so need to put more back in.
