This pair not only breed fast, they also prey on a range of our native species, particularly native shrimp, insects and young fish. First discovered in British waters in 2010, killer shrimp is considered to be one of the most damaging invasive species in Europe, with the potential to significantly affect the ecology of our major rivers, canals and lakes. And now there's even worse on the horizon with the demon shrimp, first spotted in 2012 and in Merseyside waterways in November 2014.
