Volunteers roll up their 'sleeves'

Volunteers in berkshire have launched a new system to warn boaters of strong streams on the River Kennet section of the Kennet & Avon after a successful trial. Working with the Canal & River Trust, volunteer 'Lock Guardians' place coloured vinyl 'sleeves' on lock beams: yellow sleeves on the beams advise caution, while red sleeves mean it's not advisable to use the river at all.
