At the same time as looking into the far future, the Canal & River Trust's water team have had much more pressing matters to deal with, following further dry weather in late autumn which once again hit the Leeds & Liverpool Canal.The need to allow the canal's reservoirs to refill in time for the start of the busy boating period in the spring meant limitng some lock flights between Wigan to Skipton to opening one day per week: Thursday at Wigan, and Saturday at Barrowford,Greenberfield, Bank Newton and Gargrave. As we went to press, CRT told Canal Boat that the canal's reservoir stocks had recovered well (to 71 percent full on average) but not quite enough to confirm whet not the restrictions could be"confidently lifted before Christmas".
