An ongoing joint research effort by scientists at IBM's research facility in San Jose, Ca., and the nearby Stanford University is reportedly showing a lot of promise in the development of new types of biodegradable and biocompatible plastics that may significantly increase the recyclability and reuse of common PET (polyethylene terephthalate) and plant-based packaging plastics across a broad range of industries-from plastics processingrnand manufacturing to healthcare and microelectronics.
