Legislative Voting in the Canadian Parliament

The geometric analysis of legislative voting in a multidimensional spacenis commonly used to study the United States Congress ~for example, Clin-nton et al., 2004; Heckman and Snyder, 1997; Poole and Rosenthal, 1997,n2007!, Latin America ~see Morgenstern and Nacif, 2002!, and the Euro-npean Union ~see Hix et al., 2007!. These techniques are based on thenspatial theory of voting, which assumes that legislators have underlyingnpreferences ~that is, ideal points! across a set of policy alternatives ~Davisnet al., 1970!.
