Je me présente à toutes les sections étudiantes : je m'appelle Vera Straka, ing., FSCGC, et je suis la nouvelle présidente du comité des affaires étudiantes, en poste pour les deux prochaines années. J'entends appuyer cette mission de la SCGC qui consiste à assurer l'avancement de la profession, et je considère que le développement de la clientèle étudiante et de leur participation est de la plus haute importance pour la SCGC. La croissance de tout organisme dépend de la jeune génération, et l'intégration de ses idées est nécessaire pour assurer l'avenir de l'organisme. La SCGC appuie nombre d'activités étudiantes bien établies, comme les concours du canoë en béton, du toboggan en béton, et les concours de construction de ponts. Je serais ravie d'aider les sections étudiantes à obtenir l'appui de la SCGC pour de nouvelles activités, qu'elles soient locales ou qu'elles soient susceptibles d'accéder au niveau national. La technologie nous permet de nous relier virtuellement, ce qui offre aux sections étudiantes la possibilité de réaliser des activités qui assurent le rayonnement de la profession au niveau national.%I would like to introduce myself to all CSCE Student Chapters. My name is Vera Straka, P.Eng., FCSCE and, as the newly appointed Chair of the CSCE Student Affairs Committee, I will be your point of contact for next two years. I fully support the Society's mission to promote the advocacy and advancement of the civil engineering profession as top priorities and I consider student membership development and participation in the CSCE to be the most important. The growth of any organization is dependent on its young generation, and incorporation of its ideas into the future of the organization is vital. The CSCE supports many well established, student administered yearly activities (such as the concrete canoe, the concrete toboggan, and the bridge building competitions). I would be delighted to assist Student Chapters in obtaining CSCE support for new activities, whether they are local or have the potential to grow into a national activity. Technology allows us the ability to easily connect virtually, thus opening a vast opportunity for Student Chapters to carry out activities advancing the visibility and promotion of the profession nationally.
