Japan's successful Olympic bid emphasized sustainability and technical innovation, areas where Japan has long played a leading global role. Already, "the Olympic effect" has been named "the fourth arrow of Abenomics," and in September, Savills plc (SVS) named Tokyo as the best city worldwide for residential property returns. The construction sector, already on a recovery track as a result of rebuilding the areas affected by the tsunami and quake of March 2011, will receive about $1.5 billion in government spending on Olympic venues alone.
