On Nov. 6, FlexSys's backers began testing its flap on a Gulfstream Ⅲ business jet at Edwards Air Force Base in Southern California. Commercial flyers may see the flap on planes in 6 to 10 years, says Fay Collier, manager of NASA's Environmentally Responsible Aviation Project. Kota says he's in talks with aircraft makers to incorporate the design.
