In this paper, we build on our previous work that applied Amartya Sen and Martha Nussbaum's Aristotelian grounded theory of capabilities to the workplace in order to propose a new way of conceptualising workplace equality. Capabilities theory calls for equal freedoms to achieve and to function. From a capabilities perspective, examination of equality action in communities can only be meaningfully done through the use of a richer information base than often is employed. One implication that can be drawn from these views is that a review and revision of how workplace inequality is formally evaluated and thus measure, is necessary: this is what we begin to explore in this article. Additionally, we attempt to develop a tentative outline of what might be the 'design elements' for evaluation and measurement.
