An empirical analysis of the demand of Spanish religious groups and charities for socially responsible investments

Socially responsible investments or ethical investments have received considerable attention in the literature. Most of the international research about SRI has focused on the supply of ethical products. Little is known about the demand for this type of product, especially institutional demand. There is no single study focusing on the Spanish demand for SRI, or comparing Spanish and other EU countries' demand. This paper analyses the potential demand for SRI in Spain among charities, development NGOs and religious groups. Through a pen-and-pencil questionnaire, their current SRI policy and requested features of SRI products were examined, together with their intention to acquire several subtypes of financial products in the future.
