Telecom Asia — Shape of Tomorrow's Telecom

For 20 years, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has been running regional conferences, in addition to its quadrennial extravaganza in Geneva. The most recent, Telecom Asia, was held in Busan, Korea. The success of Telecom Asia is, of course, tied to the relatively strong Asian telecom market. And Korea now stands at the apex of not only the Asian market, but much of the world. Cellular subscribers now comprise 69.4 percent of the Korean population; 60.3 percent access the Internet and 75.1 percent of these do so via broadband-at an average speed of 20 Mbps.
