GE's Mottier: Keeping Fast Company

According to Brad Mottier, the "philosophy" behind the conception of General Electric's Passport turbofan was to conceive an entirely new engine to power large long-range business jets at high speeds and altitudes with unprecedented fuel economy. Mottier was largely responsible for the reinvigoration and expansion of GE's Business and General Aviation and Integrated Systems division, which he leads as vice president and general manager. Beginning a decade ago, he guided the acquisition of Walter Engines in the Czech Republic and, later, managed a partnership with Honda to jointly certificate the HF120 small turbofan that powers the Japanese company's HondaJet entry-level business jet.
