Greyhound places repeat order with Volvo-owned Prevost

Traditionally, Greyhound bought its coaches from MCI, the Canadian company it once owned, but earlier this year it bought fifty 45ft (13.8m) Prevost X3-45 models, 33 for its new BoltBus budget line operating out of New York in competition with Stagecoach's Megabus services, and 17 for evaluation on its core services. All of the new vehicles, to be delivered between February and July next year, will be for Greyhound-branded routes. Chief executive officer David Leach says the choice of Prevost vehicles ties directly into Greyhound's mission to offer 'a new and improved image of safe, reliable and enjoyable travel to nearly 25million passengers each year'. Announcement of the order comes as First Student, the group's North American yellow schoolbus division, takes delivery of the first of a $1.2billion (￡680million) two-year order for bonneted International CE buses (Global News, July).
