The Global Financial Crisis may prove to have been an ideal time for Oxford Diecast to launch its N gauge buses, coaches, cars and commercials, the first bus examples of which sold out rapidly. N gauge is 1:148-scale, which is tiny, as is clear from our photograph showing one of its latest Routemaster models alongside the £100-plus 1:24-scale equivalent from Sun Star. They are just over half the size of the 1:76-scale (00 gauge) models that dominate the bus collectors' market, which may appeal to people running short of display space, as well as those seeking buses for their N gauge railway layouts. By model bus standards, they also are cheap as chips.
